Privacy
Two fields, one purpose. Never sold, never shared, and you can leave in one click.
What we store
- Your email address.
- The city you typed, and a normalised form of it where we recognise the city.
- Any of the optional chips you tapped.
- The year you were counted in, and the date and wording of the consent you gave.
- A one-way salted hash of your IP address, kept only to rate-limit the form. We cannot recover an address from it.
What we do not store
No name, no phone number. We never ask for anything beyond the two fields on the form and the optional chips.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Nothing loads until you say yes. On your first visit you get one bar with two equal buttons. Decline and no analytics or advertising script is ever downloaded, no cookie is set, and nothing about your visit leaves this site. That choice is remembered for a year, and declining costs you nothing — the site works identically either way.
If you accept, two things load:
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics — so we can see which pages and referrers actually bring people in.
- Meta Pixel — so that when we run ads on Instagram, we can tell which ones led to someone being counted in rather than guessing.
Both set cookies and both send data to Google and Meta respectively, under their own privacy policies. If you accept and later change your mind, declining removes the cookies they set — withdrawing is not just a promise to stop adding more.
Two events are recorded: that a signup was submitted, and that one was confirmed. Your email address is never sent to Google or Meta.
Why we ask for a city
So we know where the crowd is when the Wave gets built. It is used in aggregate to decide which cities can support a gathering.
Essential and milestone mail only. No digest, no drip.
Leaving
Every mail carries a one-click leave link. You can also write towe@ubm.fm and ask to be removed, and we will delete your row. Leaving reduces the running total by one, because the total is only ever a count of the rows that exist.
Who can see it
Your address, city and chips sit in a database we control, and no third party gets a copy of them. The analytics and advertising tools above never receive your email address — only the fact that a signup happened, and only if you accepted them.
If any of that ever changes, this page changes first.
